Ana Maya – I found my business niche during my days in banking. I was the only one who spoke Spanish at our bank, most of the Spanish speaking customers were sent to me not only for their banking needs, but also for their everyday life needs such as, filling out this or that form and so forth. I realized that the Spanish-speaking population was not being adequately, there was definitely a need for my type of business in my community.  My initial motivation was to meet the needs of the Hispanic community and to provide good service to every single client. In December 1995, with the encouragement and support of my husband Raymundo Maya and my family, I opened Servicios Maya. Initially I prepared income tax reports, as my client base grew, I added additional services such as bookkeeping and payroll, secretarial, notary and translations, As we grew we begin offering full lines of business, personal and medical insurance as  Farmers Insurance Agents.. At first, all my clients were Hispanic; they now comprise 60 percent of my cliental.  Although similar business have opened and closed through the years, I have managed to maintain a loyal customer base, word-of-mouth is the main driver of business for Servicios Maya. I started out working as a one-woman operation in a small office, now Servicios Maya has grown to a family operated business with nine additional employees, including my husband and partner Raymundo Maya serving as a full time Farmers Insurance Agent. I now own my office building at 717 E. Ocean Avenue, Lompoc. I believe my community activity is a key factor in my success. As my business has grown, I have found ways to keep my motivation going and to give back to my community.  I am a member of the Chamber of Commerce and pass chairperson of the Hispanic Business Committee as well a member of the Lompoc Business Woman Network and sit in the advisory committee of Chief of Police. We at Servicios Maya are involved in community special events, and provide positive role models to our youth through partnerships in business and education. In 2007 Servicios Maya was nominated by the Lompoc Chamber of Commerce as North Santa Barbara County Business of the year and received the Spirit of Small Business award for the Small Business of the Year Woman Minority Owned. My hope is of opening additional locations within the Tri-County.

Lourdes (Lulu) Salazar – My bookkeeping career started at LCA roofing in Oceanside, CA in 2006, where I started gaining hands-on experience, learning by myself about the many aspects of the business financials as a bookkeeper. I recognized the importance of how planning and organizing takes place in a business, by keeping track of the income and expenses in order to make smarter decisions based on the actual financial situation of the company. On January 2014, I was enrolled at Vista Adult School to get my formal education by getting my bookkeeping/accounting diploma. Later on in September of the same year I had the opportunity to become part of the Servicios Maya/Farmers Insurance team where I am responsible for keeping, maintaining, processing and updating quality records of financial transactions, produce accurate and timely reports of tax payments for federal, state and local entities, workers compensation insurance, etc., I handle all the payroll processing, for all our business clients, with accuracy and confidentiality, following the ethical values and professionalism of Servicios Maya/Farmers Insurance that puts its trust in my hands.
